Donnie & I go way back, being friends for 50 years. I remember a time after I had moved to Little Rock, AR, Donnie wanted to come down from Russellville and go bowling at one of the better bowling alleys in the city. I was not much of a bowler, but Donnie was. He carried a very high average and even entertained the possibility of going pro. We went to the designated place and was placed adjacent to a practicing resident pro, so he could help us with the new, state of the art, computerized scoring system. Donnie went first and immediately rolled a strike. I rolled my normal spare. The next frame Donnie rolled another strike, and again in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th. frames. It was about that time the local pro came over to me while Donnie was preparing to take his turn for the 6th frame, and asked; who is this guy?I I couldn't help but laugh. The guy was concerned Donnie was going to be competing against him! Donnie went on to roll 9 straight strikes. In the last frame, he was a little off and had a spare; but he came amazingly close to a perfect game in his first visit to this bowling alley. As we left, he looked at me and said, " I really like this bowling alley!
