Carol Foster

Carol Lee Foster, affectionately known as "Nana," was born on April 24, 1952, in Mt. Ida, Arkansas. She graced this world with her vivid personality and an adventurous spirit until her peaceful passing at home in Texarkana, Texas, on April 16, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family.

Carol was a proud graduate of Norman High School in Norman, Arkansas, class of 1971. She carried the joyous and sassy spirit from her high school days throughout her life. Those who knew her would recount her sincere laughter and her delightful sense of humor, which made even the simplest moments feel like adventures. Among her many talents, Carol was celebrated for her exceptional baking skills, creating the best lazy cake cookies in the world, a treat her family and friends cherished.

Family was everything to Carol, and her proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren. She thrived in her roles as a doting wife, mother, and grandmother, always ready to spoil her grandkids rotten. She had a passion for sewing, dancing, camping, shopping, and, most importantly, spending time with the ones she loved. Her boundless love and warmth were felt in every hug she gave, each one carefully crafted to wrap her loved ones in comfort and joy.

Carol leaves behind her devoted husband, Sam “Poppy” Foster of Texarkana, Texas, along with her daughter and son-in-law, Suzie and Steve Inman, also of Texarkana. Her son, Charlie Wornick of Sherman, Tx. She was the proud grandmother of four grandchildren: Hailey Christen and husband Nick Christen, Rachel Harris and partner Tanner Bell, Payton Wornick, and Aubrey Wornick. To her family, she was a constant source of strength and guidance.

The joy of being a grandmother extended to her two bonus granddaughters, Lauren Hill and Casey Callahan, and the love in her heart expanded even further with the arrival of three great-grandchildren: Stanton Callahan, River Callahan, and Miles Christen. 

Carol's circle included cherished relationships that filled her life with joy, such as her best friend of 48 years, Brenda Gillespie. She held a special bond with her uncle, Jim Cogburn of Norman, Arkansas, and leaves behind cousins Janelle Graves of Glenwood, Arkansas, and Jan West also of Glenwood, Arkansas, who were all touched by her vibrant spirit. Her bonus daughter, Missy Lichtenwalter held a special place in her heart  

Though Carol is preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Crawford, her father, Lee Wornick, and sister Treva Goodyear, along with several aunts and cousins, her memory is profoundly alive in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her fiercely.

As we remember Nana, we hold onto the laughter she brought into our lives, the comfort of her hugs, and the sweetness of her cookies. Her adventure may have come to an end, but the essence of Carol Lee Foster will forever remain a guiding light for her family. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.

A memorial service honoring Carol’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 21, 2025 at Beech St Baptist Church in Texarkana, Ar.
