Audrey Martin-Henderson, born February 24, 1944, in Pike County, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, in Texarkana, Texas. Audrey was one of four children of the late Seward Butch Martin and Beatrice Fields Martin, both from Robinson Creek, Kentucky.

Audrey graduated from Virgie High School in 1961, and went on to obtain her Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education from Pikeville College in 1964, and her Master of Arts in Education from Eastern Kentucky University in 1971. Audrey taught high school biology at both Texas High School and Arkansas High School during her lengthy teaching career in Texarkana. Teaching was her true passion, and she considered herself a lifetime learner. In her spare time, Audrey enjoyed writing and gardening. 

Audrey is preceded in death by her parents Butch and Beatrice Martin; sister, Mary Lou Davis; and brother, Fred Martin. Audrey is survived by two daughters, Betty Lugger and Diana Henderson; two grandchildren, Evan Lugger and Lexie Lugger; her sister, Betty Martin; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will all miss her and remember her fondly.

It was my honor to teach with Audrey at Texas High. She was such an intelligent and beautiful lady of grace. Audrey was alway so kind to me and welcomed me into the team of science teachers. She will be missed.
