Obituary

Wanda Claus Peschel, 91, of Rusk County, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2024. She was born on November 11, 1932, to Charles (Charlie) Claus and Irene Smith Claus. Wanda was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many.

She is preceded in death by her father, Charlie Claus; her mother, Irene Smith Claus; her brother, Joe Claus; and her grandson, Sean White.

Wanda is survived by her beloved children: daughters Toni Sawtelle and husband Denny, Kandice Stukins and husband Mike, Vip (Vivian) Mount and husband James, Kathy Petter and son Geoff Peschel and wife Christy. She is also survived by her dear brothers, Ted Claus and wife Carole, and Santa Michael Claus and wife Joyce. Wanda leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom cherished her deeply. She is also survived by her faithful companion, her beloved dog Chaka.

A celebration of Wanda's life will be held on October 12, 2024, with the location to be disclosed at a later date.

Wanda will be remembered for her love of family and the warmth she brought to those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Wanda was SO sweet to me as a child. She looked after me just like she did you girls!! She and my mom (Ruth) were good friends, and she will be so missed. Praying for all who loved her.

Wanda was a “HOOT”. She was full of grit and fire. She seemed to look for the best in others and had a real keen awareness to a situation you were working on…..even if the situation had not been discussed. She had “GOOD” mama instinct. Wanda was my friend. She made a lasting impression on the way I wanna be when I’m an “ole lady”. I want to laugh and spoil all the people I love. Wanda……REST. ALL is well..Thanks be to God from whom all blessings flow. Wanda was a blessing to me and I am grateful I knew her. Amen
