Obituary

Mark Anthony Hegenbart, born on December 16, 1951, in Barstow, California, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2024, in Texarkana, Texas. He was the beloved sixth son of Henry and Mildred Hegenbart.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Tom, Jerry, Dan, and Pat Hegenbart.

Mark is survived by his two brothers, Joe and Mike Hegenbart. He leaves behind his loving wife of 24 years, Cindy, who stood by his side through life's journey. Mark's legacy lives on through his children: sons Brian Hegenbart and his wife Jessica, Kenny Russell and his partner Faith, and daughters Heather Graham and her partner Shannon, Nikki Stevens and her husband Levi, and Melissa Alston.

Mark was a cherished grandfather to numerous grandchildren: Xavier (wife Courtney), Jaxon, Gavin and Chance Hegenbart; Ryan (wife Autumn) and Jason Paukei; Riley Alston; Braxton and Kinzie Dufur; and Cheyenne, Haley, Kaylor, Gracie, and LJ Stevens. He also had the joy of being a great-grandfather to Elsynia Paukei.

Mark's life was a testament to love and dedication. Known for his many words, he was an amazing husband, the best father, and an even better "Papa" to his beloved grandchildren.

His presence will be deeply missed by his family and the many who loved and cherished him. Mark will be loved, remembered, and missed forever.

I have the best memories of Uncle Mark. He was always a joy to be around and I always looked forward to his visits. Joking, laughing, making silly faces and raising everyones spirits. If my memory is right he was one of the few players who could hit a softball over the fence of the big field at the Paradise Ball Park. Thank you Uncle Mark for all the joy you brought into our lives. You are greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate to have known you. Memories of you will always put a smile on my face.

Sorry for your loss of Mark. David is right, Mark could drive the baseball out of the Paradise ball field. Also his pitching to his catcher was always a good show. The catcher was his brother Pat and they knew what each other was going to without any signals to each other. Mark always had a great grin that made you wonder what he was up to. Fun loving but caring for the people around. You will be missed. From the Gardner clan in Chico.
