Obituary

Gerald C. Taylor departed on June 21, 2024, at the age of 86, under the care of a local hospice facility. Born on January 7, 1938, in Rochester, New York, Gerald made his home in Texarkana, where he lived for 4 years. A proud Marine Corps Veteran, he later became a cowboy, factory worker, and a career baker.

 

Gerald was preceded in death by his daughters Deborah Renner and Belinda Cantrell, his first wife Sylvia Taylor, his second wife Barbara Taylor, his Grandson Michael Davis, his nine siblings, and his parents Robert Taylor and Inez Taylor.

 

Gerald loved his family. Among his pastimes was rooting for the Dallas Cowboys football team, a passion he shared with his daughter Theresa. 

 

He leaves behind his daughter Theresa Davis and son Jerry Taylor both residing in Texarkana, Texas; his other son Daniel Taylor in North Carolina. As well as five grand children and 7 great grand children.

 

Memorial service will be held July 27 at 1:00pm at Faith Assembly Church on Arkansas Blvd in Texarkana, Arkansas. The family expresses their gratitude to the Christus St. Michael hospital and the Hospice of Texarkana for their compassionate care and support during this time.

Gerald loved to sign praises to God when we worshipped at church. I called him Siir Gerald"! What an amazing testimony he shared of what Christ did in his life. I will miss him until we meet again.

Gerald was a very good Father-in-law. When dating and first married he was the approachable parent. Always feeling like my friend we would walk to the 7-11 many evenings, never running out of things to talk about. On our wedding nightGerald called and appalageticly asked for help because his old Imperial broke down. Gladly, Deb and I went to Jack London Square. We were not able to get it started but we brought him back to our apartment where had Vodka and orange juice, talked, and laughed about our wedding dinner at Jack in the box. I only $20 to my name. I'll miss my friend until we meet again!
