Obituary

In Loving Memory of Marcus Scott Hudson

Marcus Scott Hudson, 38, of Texarkana, Arkansas, passed away unexpectedly on September 10, 2026.
Marcus was born September 29, 1987, in West Monroe, Louisiana, to Rhonda and James Hudson. His passing came far too soon and leaves an immeasurable absence in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

Marcus will be remembered first and foremost for his heart. His family describes him as affectionate, always joking, lighthearted, and playful. He had a way of bringing laughter into a room and making the people around him feel loved. He cared deeply for his family and would do anything for the people who mattered to him.

Some of Marcus's happiest moments were the simplest ones, spending time with his family, and especially with his daughter, Mataya Hudson. Those ordinary moments became the extraordinary pieces of a life: laughter shared, stories told, time spent together, and memories that will now be treasured more dearly than ever.

Marcus was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arvel McDaniel and Ruby Trichell McDaniel and James Warren Hudson Sr. and Joy Thorton; his aunts and uncles Jean Easom Duffey, Billie Ruth Easom Tillman, Danny Trichell, and Jeffrey Scott Hudson; and other loved ones who went before him.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Mataya Hudson; his parents, James Warren Hudson Jr. and Rhonda McDaniel Hudson; his brothers, Joshua Young, Seth Hudson, Brandon Hudson; his sisters, Michelle Young Keahey, Ashlyn Hudson, Megan Hudson Dorsett; his nephew Jacob Young and his nieces  Ashlyn Young, Megan Nicholas, Savannah Humphrey, Emily Massey, Madison Young, and Hailee Young; along with many other family members and friends whose lives were touched by his.

The people who loved Marcus will remember his jokes, his playful spirit, his affection, and the countless stories. They will remember the way he loved them. And while his family would have given anything for more time, the love Marcus gave during his 38 years cannot be measured by the number of years he lived.

For those who loved him, there is comfort in believing that death does not have the final word. Scripture promises, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18. In the days ahead, may God remain especially close to Marcus's family, carrying them through a grief too heavy to carry alone.

Marcus's life was more than the way it ended. He was a son. He was a father. He was a brother. He was an uncle. He was family. He was loved.
And he will be missed for the rest of our lives.

Until we meet again, Marcus may you rest in the arms of God, surrounded by a peace that surpasses all understanding.
