Obituary
Mrs. Patty was born on August 14, 1948, in Texarkana, Arkansas. She retired from a World for Children. She was a foster parent for 42 years to over 300 children. Mrs. Patty was a Christian who had a love for all. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many people. She showed everyone who knew her unconditional love. She would light up a room and always wanted it to be filled with laughter. She never met a stranger and welcomed everyone into her home as if they were family. She passed away peacefully surrounded by all of her children with laughter in the room. She was the life of every family gathering. She was known to get the laughs started and then sit back smiling and watching quietly as her children bantered back and forth with each other.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ben “Pop” Patty and grandson Hunter Cross. She is survived by 4 daughters and 3 sons-in-law: Glenda and John Allen Cross of Fouke, Arkansas, Jeanna and Manuel Williams of Fouke, Arkansas, Hailey and Mark Freshour of Wake Village, Texas, and Tawnie Gill of Texarkana, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law Toby and Rae Ann Patty of Greenwood, Louisiana; 11 grandchildren, Dylan Cross, Dana Cross, Manuel Williams, Anna Williams, Mason Williams, Jessica Williams, Kaylin Patty, Kamryn Patty, Izabella Patty, Kirstyn Gilliland, Kiptyn Gilliland, 2 great-granddaughters, Annistyn Williams and McKinlee Williams, 2 sisters and 1 brother-in-law Donna and Ronnie Allen of Malta, Texas, Blanche Barber of Texarkana, Arkansas, 1 brother and sister-in-law Harry and Billie Gentry of Redwater, Texas and a number of friends and other relatives.
A graveside service will be held at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens in Wake Village, Texas at 826 North Kings Highway, Wake Village, Texas 75503 on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, starting at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Texarkana at 2407 Galleria Oaks, Texarkana, Texas 75503.

What a beautiful memorial written for Mary…even as a teenager she was the life of all the Gentry family gatherings . If Mary was involved, there was going to be laughter and love. What a rewarding life she lived to influence, guide , and love so many children . All of you are in my thoughts and prayers

Mary is our cousin.We have very fond memories of her.Even though we haven't been close geographically we still feel the loss and it is heavy.What a wonderful role model and mentor. Mary's mother Virginia was an outstanding person.That's probably why all of her children are too. So sorry for the loss.Blessings.We love you
