Sheree Louise Giacomoni

beloved wife, mama, memaw, aunt, cousin, and friend, was born October 12, 1957 in Akron, Ohio and passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, just eight months after the passing of her beloved husband, Mark. Though her family's hearts are broken, they find comfort in knowing she is finally reunited with the love of her life. Their love story was one of unwavering devotion, spanning more than fifty years, and now they are together again.

Sheree was born to Juanita Belle Kanatzer and Stanley Eugene Fortune. She lost her father at a young age and she would eventually experience the loss of her mother as well.

She dedicated many years of service to NAF Financial Services at Red River Army Depot, where she found purpose in her work. She often smiled as she described her job as "paying the bills for the soldiers," and she took great pride in knowing her work supported those who served our country. She loved her job, the people she worked alongside, and the opportunity to make a difference before retiring.

Above all else, Sheree was devoted to her family. She was a loving mother to her children, Jason Giacomoni and Cathryn "Katie" Diaz, and she treasured the families they built. She deeply loved her son-in-law, Armando Diaz, and her daughter-in-law, Courtney, grateful for the love and happiness they brought to her children and embracing them as her own.

Her greatest joy was being Memaw. She adored her grandsons, Axel and Mason, proudly watching them grow into strong, kind, and protective young men. She loved her granddaughter, Madison, especially the countless afternoons spent playing dress-up, laughing together, and making memories only a Memaw and granddaughter can share. Her heart was also completely captured by her newest grandson, baby Jace, whose arrival in December brought her so much happiness. Every one of her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and being their Memaw was one of the greatest blessings of her life.

She also shared a special bond with her niece, Sarah, the daughter of her late sister, Terri. Sarah's beautiful red hair reminded Sheree so much of her own, and she loved sharing with her a love of birds and hummingbirds, creating memories and traditions that Sarah will carry with her forever.

Sheree's family was never limited to those she was born into. She loved Mark's family as her own and shared a particularly close bond with her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Joe and Ruth, Mike and Roz, and Pam and Mike and their children and grandchildren. She treasured the years of laughter and memories they shared together. She also remained close to her cousin Patty, her husband Don, and their son, Bradley, cherishing those lifelong family connections.

Anyone who knew Sheree knew her beautiful red hair before they knew anything else. It matched her spirit perfectly; beautiful, bold, and just a little bit sassy. She could make you laugh with a quick remark, tell you exactly what she thought, and still make you feel completely loved. She was happiest in the comfort of home surrounded by the people she loved most. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, watching hummingbirds gather outside her window, caring for the birds she loved so much, and spending precious time with her children and grandchildren.

While she loved so many people deeply, nothing in this world compared to the love she had for her husband, Mark. He was her best friend, her greatest comfort, her protector, and the love of her life. For more than fifty years they built a life filled with faith, laughter, sacrifice, and unconditional love. Losing him left an emptiness that could never truly be filled. Though her family wishes they had more time with her, they find peace in believing she is once again by his side, the place her heart always longed to be.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mark Anthony Giacomoni; her parents, Juanita Belle Kanatzer and Stanley Eugene Fortune; her sister, Terri Lynn Fortune Taylor; and many other loved ones who welcomed her home.

She leaves behind her son, Jason Giacomoni, his fiancée, Courtney, and their children, Madison, Mason, and Jace; her daughter, Cathryn "Katie" Diaz, her husband, Armando Diaz, and their son, Axel; her niece, Sarah; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Joe and Ruth and Mike and Roz; her cousin Patty, her husband Don, and their son, Bradley; along with many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were forever made brighter by knowing her.

Though she will be missed beyond words, her family finds comfort in knowing that after months apart, she and Mark are together again hand in hand, exactly where they were always meant to be.

A graveside service celebrating Sheree's life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with Father Braun officiating at Holy Cross Cemetery at Sacred Heart in Texarkana. Following the service, the family will receive friends and loved ones at the Sacred Heart Parish Center. Family, friends, and all who wish to honor Sheree or support her family during this time are warmly invited to attend both the graveside service and the gathering.
