Leonard McKamie

Leonard Ray "Sonny" McKamie, age 85, of Nash, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026, at Reunion Plaza Nursing in Texarkana, Texas. Born on December 3, 1940, in Hope, Arkansas, to Chester Ray McKamie and Dorothy Inez Kennedy McKamie, Leonard lived a life marked by devotion to family, service, and community.

A proud veteran, Leonard honorably served two years in the United States Army as a private. He was a graduate of Tolleson Union High School in Cashion, Arizona, and pursued further education at Texarkana College.

Leonard was preceded in death by his son, Terry Lynn McKamie, and his brother, Donnie McKamie. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Ann McKamie Chapman, the love of his life; his children, Sean McKamie, Katie McKamie, Sam McKamie, and Crystal Cornell and her husband Ron; and his daughter, Krystal Cornell. He is also survived by his siblings, Sandy McKamie and Susie Neese and her husband Bill.

Throughout his life, Leonard was known for his strength of character and the warmth he extended to those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Celebration of Life will be held August 15th, 2026, at 2-4 pm at Life House Church 1102 Maywood St Texarkana AR.
