Obituary

Rufus Lee Bussell of Texarkana, Arkansas died Saturday, June 27, 2026 at his Chapel Ridge apartment.

He was the beloved son of Rufus Bussell and Louise Stinnett Bussell. Rufus Lee was named after his dad, Rufus Bussell and Grandfather Arthur Lee Stinnett. No child was ever loved more by his mother. He was always his mother's special child.

Rufus Lee was born November 6, 1949 at Camden, Arkansas. He was diagnosed with epilepsy, a condition which affected him his entire life. He was also intellectually challenged which created many hills to be climbed throughout his life. Lee worked very hard at any job he ever had. He carried his own load and was independent. When his health was better, he liked hanging out at the mall. He loved everything Razorback and watching Jeopardy.

Lee cared about his family and is survived by brothers - William (Jane) and Delean (Karen) Bussell, special Aunts - Daisy Burton and Betty Kilpatrick, and a number of nieces and nephew.

Arrangements are entrusted to Tri-State Cremation and Funeral Services.

I learned about Lee’s passing recently, and am so sad to hear this news. I pray that The Lord would be your comforter. I first took Lee, for HandsOn Texarkana, on 7/4/22. I enjoyed meeting Lee, getting to know him, and will miss him. He was kind-hearted.

I just found out about Mr. Bussell today. He was my first transport of HandsOn Texarkana. I had just asked about him earlier this month. Condolences to his family.

When I was a child, Uncle Lee would get country music concert tickets, waiting in line to get the best seats. I got to see some of the best musicians in country music history with my uncle and parents. My Uncle Lee was a good man, who I was very close to growing up. I will always cherish his contributions to my childhood.
