Obituary
Michael “Mickey” E. Taylor, age 78, passed quickly into his Savior’s arms on May 17,
2026. He was born on July 20, 1947, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to W.J. and Bitty Taylor,
who preceded him in death.
Mickey devoted his life to faith, family, and serving others through ministry. He faithfully
served as Pastor of Frontier Baptist Church until his retirement, touching countless lives
with kindness, wisdom, compassion, and a steadfast belief in God’s grace. Most
recently, he faithfully served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Highland Park
Baptist Church, where he continued encouraging and ministering to others through his
love of God and His Word.
Before retirement, Mickey also dedicated many years of service to Red River Army
Depot. He was respected for his strong work ethic, dependability, integrity, and quiet
strength.
Outside of ministry and work, Mickey found great joy in woodworking. He had a special
talent for creating beautiful pieces with his hands and took pride in craftsmanship,
patience, and helping others through the things he built. His work reflected the same
care and love he showed to the people around him. He was so honored to be asked to
build the cross that now hangs in the sanctuary over the baptistry in Highland Park
Baptist Church.
Mickey is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Bobbie Taylor, sister Debbi Jones
(Mike) of Texarkana, TX, son Scott Owen (Kristi) of Brownwood, TX, two daughters
Michelle Ganus (Michael) of Chengdu, China and Kelly Woodson (Ty) of Magnolia, AR.
Grandchildren include: Seth Owen (Jocelyn), Kory Owen (Ashley), Sidney Sisemore
(Mark), Anna Sonderquist (Fox), Grace Ganus, Tyler Woodson (Hayley) and Taylor
Woodson. Great Grandchildren include: Burks “Bo” Owen, Marshall Woodson, Ada
Woodson, and another on the way. He is also survived by two nephews Jonathan
Jones and Evan Jones.
Mickey will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His gentle spirit, warm
smile, and unwavering faith leave behind a legacy of love, service, and compassion that
will continue to live on in the hearts of family and friends.
