Douglas Stephenson, 74, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026. He was born on September 5, 1951, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the late Pearl and Ted Stephenson.
Douglas was a man who found joy in the simple things in life. He enjoyed fishing, reading, traveling, and spending meaningful time with the people he loved most. Some of his favorite memories were the vacations he shared with his beloved wife, Mary Stephenson, and the stories they created together over the years. He especially treasured his time with his grandsons, who brought him endless pride and happiness.
He retired from Smith Blair after many years of dedicated work and was a faithful member of Maud Church of Christ. Douglas was known for his quiet strength, kind heart, and steady presence. He valued family deeply and leaves behind many cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane Stephenson; his daughter, Debra Smith and husband Charlie Smith; his grandsons, Gavin Smith and Harley Smith; his brothers, David Stephenson (Josie), and Eddie Stephenson (Michelle); his sisters, Penny McGregor and Pam Rabalais (Todd); along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Ted Stephenson.
A memorial service will be held on May 29, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Todd Rabalais, his brother in law, will officiate. Douglas will be laid to rest at Center Ridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Taylor Stephenson, Brandon McGregor, Charlie, Gavi, and Harley Smith.
The family asks that Douglas be remembered for the love he shared, the stories he told, and the quiet way he made those around him feel cared for and valued.
