Melvin Otis Thetford, born on June 26, 1944
We mourn his passing but celebrate his life. He touched all of our lives in many ways. If you knew him, you loved him.
Otis Thetford was a resident of New Boston, Texas; however, Cisco, Texas, was his home. Otis passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 22, surrounded by family and a loving sitter, Shanterica Smith. He owned his own carpentry and remodeling business, "Notice Otis."
Otis was a one-of-a-kind father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. We'll love and miss him until we reunite again. He was not one for goodbyes; it was always "see you later."
Otis is survived by his sons, Shannon (Geniva) of New Boston, TX, Chase (Teri) of Gilmer, Texas, Jacky (Sandy) of New Boston, TX, daughter Krystal (James) of New Boston, TX, daughter Shawna Jo of Cisco, TX, adopted daughter Anna (Jesus) of Pittsburg, TX, sister Sandra (Fred) of Houston, TX, brother Clinton (Nancy) of Livingston, TX, special niece and nephew Vicki (Matt) of New Boston, TX, 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kirby and Mable Thetford of Cisco, TX, sister Joy Fortner of Mabank, TX, sister Carol Ensey of New Boston, TX.
A celebration of Otis's life will be held on Saturday, June 29th, at 1 pm in New Boston, TX, across from "Birdwell's" in the courtyard.
