Obituary
Dorothy Kay Brock was born in Texarkana, Arkansas, on October 18, 1945, to Knoxie and Burton Thomas. She left for her heavenly home on January 14, 2026. Kay graduated from Arkansas High School in 1963. She married Bill Brock on May 29, 1971, and lived in Miller County for the remainder of her life.
Kay Brock was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Brock; her parents, Knoxie and Burton Thomas; her sister, Judy Martin; her in laws, Audie and Mittie Lou Brock; and three brothers in law, Charles Brown, Ed James, and Ross Martin.
Kay is survived by her son, Jon Brock (Katie) of Texarkana, Arkansas, and three grandchildren, Chevy Brock (Bailey) of Conway, Arkansas, Harley Brock and Gage Brock, both of Texarkana, Arkansas. She is also survived by two sisters in law, Lou Ann Brown of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Debbie James of Texarkana, Texas; one nephew, Jeff Brown of Texarkana, Arkansas; and two nieces, Tina Shearman of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Hayley Smith of Texarkana, Texas, along with a number of other relatives.
Kay’s career in banking lasted 45 years at Oaklawn Bank and Bank Corp South, where she supervised the transit department and served as a bank officer.
Her son and grandchildren were her everything. Their well being and interests were always foremost in her life. Just as her life centered around Jon as he grew up, it did with each grandchild and their interests. They had no bigger fan.
Kay and Bill enjoyed many hobbies together, including square dancing, riding Harleys, antiquing, camping, and anything involving the kids. She also loved to cook and hosted her family every Tuesday night for at least 11 years. After retirement, she and Bill were almost inseparable. As Bill’s health declined, Kay was a devoted caretaker, focusing solely on him.
Services for Kay Brock will be held Friday, January 30, 2026, at Mandeville Baptist Church in Mandeville, Arkansas. The family will receive visitors at the church beginning at 12:00 p.m., with funeral services to follow at 1:00 p.m., led by T J Tubbs.
Flowers may be delivered to the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lupus Research Alliance, 52 Vanderbilt Avenue, Suite 401, New York, New York 10017.
