Obituary

Dannye Floyce Evinger Niedens (nee LePointe), aged 92, of Texarkana, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Niceville, Florida. Dannye was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on December 20, 1933, to the late Etta Irene LePointe Baker and the late Daniel LePointe. 

Dannye was a graduate of Fair Park High School in Shreveport and attended Midwest Christian College in Oklahoma where she met her late husband, Pastor Bill Evinger.  They married in November 1953 and served in the Christian Church ministry for 37 years in several states. After raising her children, Dannye obtained her practical nursing license in Arkansas.  Dannye spent many years as a geriatric LPN during which she provided loving and compassionate care to her patients.  Following her first husband’s death, Dannye married the late Otto Niedens in 1998 and enjoyed traveling to blue grass and gospel festivals with him.

Dannye was the embodiment of a virtuous Christian woman, known for the kindness, compassion, charity and support she extended to family and friends.  She had a mischievous sense of humor and the ability to turn strangers into friends.  Dannye was a talented singer and pianist as well as a published author and life-long poet.   Throughout her life, Dannye shared her faith and was known to be a powerful prayer warrior.   Her love, laughter and wisdom were gifts to all who knew her and she is irreplaceable in their lives.

Dannye was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brother Joseph LePointe and great grandson Trevor Trumbo.  She is survived by her children, Wendy Evinger of Niceville, Florida, Billie JoAnn “Jo” Loftis (Bill) of Niceville, Florida, Rebecca Tickle (Jonathan) of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Daniel “Buck” Evinger (Sherry) of Ozark, Missouri; her grandchildren Nicholas Haffey (Kristen), Ryan Haffey (Sonya), Matthew Trumbo (Lisa), Benjamin Bonds (Elizabeth), Katy Smith, Bradley Tickle, Wesley Smith, Brandy Smith, Patrick Smith and Brandon Loftis (Melanie), 23 great grandchildren, and her brother John Baker (Ann) of Fayetteville, Arkansas and family. 

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Gentiva Hospice in Niceville, Florida for their excellent care of Dannye during her final months, especially her nurse Angie and aide Annie.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Foundation Baptist Church in Texarkana, Arkansas, followed by interment at East Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Arrangements have been entrusted to Tri-State Cremation and Funeral Services.
