My Poppy, was the kind of man who showed up for his people without hesitation, and loving him meant never questioning where I stood. He clapped louder than anyone else, every single time, so I never had to wonder who believed in me or who was in my corner. Some of my favorite memories are the simplest ones—riding in the car with him, music turned up, bumping “Car Fulla White Boys” or singing “Cocky” by Kid Rock like every drive was our own day in the studio. What I wouldn’t give for just one more ride like that. I miss him more than I can explain, and I can’t narrow my memories down to just one, because with a man like Poppy, every second together was something to be treasured. Poppy wasn’t just my poppy he was my best friend, my dad, my father figure. He taught me life lessons without ever forcing them, and somehow prepared me to face this world even without his navigation beside me. I carry those lessons with me every day as I strive to make him proud, to protect his legacy, and to never let it fade or allow a soul to tarnish the Hutchinson name. He lives on through me—through my heart, my soul, and my actions—and my admiration for him only grows with time. I hope and pray that one day, I can be even half the person he was.
