Obituary

Mark Anthony Giacomoni, beloved husband, father, papaw, brother, and friend, was born on September 1, 1956, in Akron, Ohio, and passed away on November 14, 2025, surrounded by the family he cherished beyond measure. To all who knew him, he was the best man in the world—steady, selfless, faith-filled, and the quiet hero of his family.

A proud and devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, he lived his faith through service. He could always be found helping at his church, Sacred Heart—frying fish for parish dinners, helping at dances, remodeling the parish center, or simply doing whatever needed to be done. His hands were never still, and his heart was never closed. Service wasn’t something he did; it was who he was.

He spent many years working as a welder at Red River Army Depot, where his strong work ethic and reliability earned the respect of all who worked alongside him. But as much as he dedicated himself to his work, nothing mattered more to him than his family.

For more than fifty years, he loved his wife Sheree faithfully and fiercely. He was her partner, her protector, and her steady comfort. In recent years, as she needed more care, he met that calling with quiet devotion—an everyday act of love that showed the depth of his commitment and the gentleness of his heart.

He was a proud father to his children, Jason and Katie, and he never missed a chance to celebrate them. He supported them through every challenge, shared in each success, and loved them with a steadfastness that shaped their lives. He also deeply loved and appreciated his son-in-law Armando and daughter-in-law Courtney. He supported them wholeheartedly and was grateful for the love they gave his children, embracing them as true members of the family.

His greatest pride came with his grandchildren, Axel, Madison, and Mason. Axel, his taekwondo competitor, held a special place in his heart; he loved watching him compete, offering tips and encouragement, and never missed an opportunity to teach him something new. He was so proud to see the teacher he is growing to be.

He adored Madison and loved watching her grow from a little girl playing t-ball into a dedicated softball player. He was always willing to practice with her and adored her. She was his first fishing buddy, and he was so proud of the wonderful young woman she is becoming.

He treasured every moment with Mason—cheering him on in baseball and football, remembering his t-ball days, and especially taking him fishing. Fishing with Mason brought him pure joy; those trips were their time to talk, laugh, and make the kind of memories that last a lifetime. He was also excited to welcome a new grandson, Jace, who is on the way. Though they will never meet on this earth, the family knows Jace would have adored him—and he would have loved Jace with all his heart.

He also had a special place in his heart for Graham, whom he loved like another grandchild. He cherished that little boy and cared deeply for him, as well as for his parents, Sarah and Chase. No matter how family ties changed over the years, his love for them never did. He remained close to his cousin Patty and her husband Don, and he cared for their son, Bradley, with the same pride and tenderness he showed his own grandchildren.

His love extended deeply to his siblings. He shared a lifelong bond with his brothers Mike and Joe, loving them as both brothers and best friends. He cherished their wives and children and held them close to his heart. Some of his happiest days were spent outdoors pheasant hunting with Mike and Joe—memories filled with laughter, storytelling, and the comfort of being together. Before he passed, he also carried in his heart the memories of his siblings Pam, Richard, and Theresa, whom he loved dearly and never forgot.

He loved to fish, loved to help, loved his church, and loved his family with a presence that never wavered. He lived simply, gave generously, and showed—through every small act—what it means to love without limits.

His legacy will live on in the lessons he taught, the kindness he showed, and the family who will forever feel his love in the deepest corners of their hearts.

He leaves behind the love of his life, Sheree; his son Jason, his fiancée Courtney, and their children—Madison, Mason, and baby Jace; and his daughter, Cathryn “Katie” Diaz, her husband Armando, and their son Axel. He is also survived by his brothers, Joseph and his wife Ruth, and Michael and his wife Roz. He loved all of the children of his siblings, holding each niece and nephew close to his heart. He also cherished his great-nieces and great-nephews, whose lives added joy and light to his own. He remained close to his many cousins and held a deep affection for his friends and fellow Knights, valuing each of them as part of the family he built across a lifetime.

He is reunited in heaven with his parents, Kathryn Marie and Morfeo Angelo Giacomoni; his sister Pamela Renee and her husband Mike Barnes; his sister Theresa Marie; and his brother Richard Giacomoni.
