SAMUEL PETERSON

Sam Peterson passed away peacefully in his sleep after a brief illness on March 5, 2024. Sam was born December 6, 1947 to Corbett and Gladys Peterson in Texarkana, AR. Sam was a man of many words! His unforgettable voice and contagious laugh will be missed by so many. 

Sam's greatest joy was being a daddy to Sam Jr. He shared that love with his daughters, grandchildren, extended family, and friends unselfishly. He loved the outdoors and always had a “fish-camp” story or two to share. Sam spent many hours listening to country music, football, and political podcasts. He could talk for hours about whatever was on his mind at the time. Conversations with Sam often turned into memories that would last a lifetime. 

Sam is preceded in death by sisters Betty Allen, Juanita Trammel, Wanda McClain, and daughter Kitty Cantrell as well as his parents. 

Left to celebrate Sam are his son Sam Peterson Jr., daughter Suni Renee Hensley, Holly Steen, Amanda Thornell, brother James “Buddy” Peterson, Sister Sharon Griffith, Granddaughter Leah Peterson, and several more grandchildren, as well as his “favorite” nieces and nephews and the mother of his son, Debra Peterson Hensley.
