James Bennett

James Dalton Bennett, age 71, of De Kalb, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on November 1, 2025.

James was born on June 15, 1954, in Cadillac, Michigan, to the late Dalton Bennett and Patricia Long. He grew up in Michigan, where he learned the value of hard work and honesty — qualities that stayed with him throughout his life.

James worked as a tradesman and contractor, dedicating his career to building and fixing things with a craftsman’s pride. He was known for his steady hands, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others whenever he could.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dalton Bennett and Patricia Long, both of Michigan.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Teri Bennett, and his niece Katie Bennett; his brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Gayle Grice of Michigan; his daughters, Summer Bennett and Jamie (Matthew) Ford; six grandchildren — Alexandria Garcia, Samantha Ford, Brent Duckett, Parker Ford, Allison Ford, and Kennedy Little; and one great-grandchild, Nolan Carmichael, all of Texas.

James will be remembered as a hardworking father, a loving grandfather, and a man who took pride in the simple joys of life. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
