Obituary

Stephanie Ann Pickering Champion
January 2, 1972 – October 3, 2025

Born on January 2, 1972, in El Dorado, Arkansas, Stephanie was known for her honesty, strength, and vibrant personality. She never hesitated to speak her mind, and her refreshing authenticity left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Stephanie passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025 at the age of 53. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and unwavering love to all who knew her. With her bright blue eyes and radiant smile, she lit up every room. Her quick wit could make you burst out in laughter or make you want to take ten steps back.

Stephanie had a heart as big as her laugh. Fiercely protective and endlessly kind, she was a true lioness when it came to her children, grandchild, friends and even strangers who needed someone to stand up for them. She was also known for her exceptional cooking--her banana pudding and chicken and dumplings hold a special place in her grandson’s heart.

Stephanie shared a deep, enduring love with her husband, Edward Champion, a special bond with her faithful dog, Polly, and loved her children more than words could express. Her faith in Jesus was strong and sincere, and she lived it openly, touching many lives with her conviction and compassion.

Stephanie was preceded in death by her father, George Lewis; her mother, Ollie Ann Cates; her sisters, Renee Alexander and Lynda Alexander; and her beloved son, Andrew James Pickering.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Edward Champion; her daughter, Jaislee Pickering McDonald, and husband Brandon; her son George Lewis; her stepdaughter, Eboni Champion; her grandson Lane Pickering McDonald; her sister, Deborah Alexander; her brothers, Kelly Menendez and Kyle Bouldin; and her “wife-in-law,” L.T. Pickering; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Stephanie’s legacy is one of love, strength, laughter, and faith. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
