Shirley Ann Werst

Redwater, Texas

Shirley Ann Werst, age 72, of Redwater, Texas, went to be with the Lord on 11/19/2023. She was born on September 3rd, 1951, in Mena, Arkansas.

To know Shirley was to love her. With her bubbly and loving personality, she never met a stranger. She loved to work in finance,  having jobs at Lane's Poultry, Hatton Sawmill, and in her later years, Pioneer Credit as a Finance Manager in downtown Texarkana for over 20+ years. 

Her love of fashion, make-up, and beautiful shoes,  along with her contagious smile and beautiful blue eyes and pretty black hair,  often got her called a young Elizabeth Taylor in her early 20's. 

Shirley loved her family and spending time with them,  doing such things as camping and atv riding at the Cossatot River, baking cookies with her grandkids as well as taking them to the movies, shopping, and  playing Yahtzee. She was a great cook and enjoyed making homemade biscuits and gravy for everyone, as well as delicious chicken salad.

Aside from spending time with her family and friends,  she enjoyed listening to old gospel music, bird watching, ceramics, and  casual painting. She loved caring for her beloved animals Joe-Joe, Willie Werst, and Meow Meow. 

Shirley is proceeded in death by her parents Alfred and Nadine Bruce, her loving husband of 36 years,Kenneth Werst, and one brother David Bruce. 

Left to cherish the memory of her beautiful life here on Earth, are her children and their spouses, Tamara Campbell of Texarkana, Texas. Randy Werst and Keri of Chandler, Texas. Glenn Werst of Hatton, Arkansas. Ashley Werst Caramez and Tim of Hatton, Arkansas. One brother, Henry Bruce and Revia of Zafra, Oklahoma. One sister, Alice Pate and Tommy of Germantown, Tn. One uncle, Barney Bruce of Arlington, Texas. Two nieces, Debbie Fairless and Cassandra Hicks and four nephews, Junior Bruce, Edwin Bruce, Brandon Bruce, and Todd Pate. 

Also left to cherish memories of her are her beloved grandchildren and their spouses: Evan Carr of Tyler, Texas, Tasha Harris and George of Amity, Arkansas, Jared Daniels of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Brody Werst and Mackenzie of Muze, Oklahoma, Ashlee Cockrell and Stephen of Texarkana, Texas, Scottie Werst of Texarkana, Texas, Haley Sorel of Mena, Arkansas, Makayla Caramez of Hatton, Arkansas and Austin Caramez of Hatton, Arkansas. 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
