Wayne was born in Texarkana, Arkansas, on September 20, 1955, and passed away on May 25, 2024, at the age of 68, in Texarkana, Texas, after a short battle with cancer. He was born to the late Ralph Wayne Crank, Sr., and Mrs. Addie Lee Bean Crank, who both resided in Garland City, Arkansas. Wayne was raised on their family farm. The Crank family were farmers and merchants in the Garland City, Arkansas area during his youth. Wayne graduated from Lewisville High School in Lewisville, Arkansas, in 1973. Later, he went to Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He became a member of the Kappa Alpha Order and remained active throughout his life. He remained in Shreveport and worked as a Certified Professional Landman in the oil and gas industry.

In 2001, Wayne married Constance Diane Long in Shreveport. Throughout their marriage, they enjoyed the outdoors together. Wayne’s lifelong passion was aviation, and he had many students over the years. He was a sailplane instructor and was instrumental in the Shreveport Soaring Club of Gilliam, Louisiana. He earned many trophies and awards for his skill as an aviator.

Wayne is survived by his wife Constance Diane Long and his Arkansas family. He is survived by his sister Louanne Crank Smith, her husband Robbie Lee Smith of Texarkana, Texas, his nephew Blake Robert Smith (his wife, Maggie Pappas Smith), and niece Tiffani Smith Jordan (her husband, Cody Alan Jordan), and four great-nephews. He is also survived by his step-daughter Elizabeth “Emma” Meeks Fargerson, her husband Taylor Fargerson, and his step-grandchildren Sage Fargerson and Rhett Fargerson.

A Memorial Service will be held at Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church, 908 Rutherford Street, Shreveport, Louisiana, on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:00 am, where he is a member.
