Oliver Ray Hagood, age 84, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024, surrounded by his family in Texarkana, Texas. Born to Ruth Aline Taylor and Brucey Young, Oliver was later adopted by Eugene and Agnes Hagood. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lavonne Hagood; his parents; four sisters; two brothers; and his son, Jeremy Reed.
Oliver is survived by his three sons, Greg (Jessica) Hagood of Texarkana, AR, Steve Hagood of DeQueen, AR, and Jake Hagood of DeQueen, AR; and his three daughters, Laura White of DeQueen, AR, Melissa (Jeff) Walraven of Texarkana, AR, and Glenda Hagood of DeQueen, AR. He is also survived by his stepson, Bart (Linda) Clark of Grandview, TX, and was deeply loved by his 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He is further survived by his sister, Willie Mae Simpson, and his brother, Howard Lee Whitley. Oliver’s life was rich with love and family, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A man of many talents, Oliver had a passion for coon hunting, dog breeding, and fishing. He loved animals and found great joy in his work as an electrician, mobile home mover, and “jack of all trades” who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a wheeler and dealer, with an eye for opportunity and a heart full of generosity.
A celebration of Oliver’s life will be held on December 27, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1452 E. Red Bridge Road, DeQueen, AR 71832. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Meagan (James) Fields and family, Stacy (Gary) Surprise and family, Jeff Walraven, Shane Hollowell, Brenda Carmack, Danny Hagood, and Taylor Hagood for their unwavering love and support. A special thank you goes to Hospice of Texarkana and caregiver Tiffany Clark for their compassionate care. Oliver cherished each one of you, and your kindness meant the world to him.
Oliver will be remembered for his boundless love, adventurous spirit, and deep devotion to family. May his memory be a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Rest in peace, Oliver. You will forever be in our hearts.
