Naomi Jean Mewborn

Naomi Jean Mewborn, age 84, of Texarkana, AR, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at her daughter's home in DeKalb, Texas. She was born on September 19, 1938, to Woodrow and Nettie Harris in Fouke, AR. Naomi was a beloved mother, aunt, sister, and grandmother to many. She worked as a homemaker and was once the manager of Shady Acres Mobile Home Park. Naomi was the most caring and loving person to everyone she met. She helped anyone in need, ensuring no one left her house hungry, even if there was not enough for her. Naomi was a devout Christian and was loved by everyone she met.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Victor Buttram, George Harris, and Larry Dodson; sisters, Martha Jo Reel, Laura Lucas, Barbara Parker, and Janette Bellew; great-grandson, Talan Snyder; and great-great-grandson, Tylan Snyder.

Naomi is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Craig Hazelwood; daughter, Carylon Williams; and son, Grover Mewborn, son in law Micky Jeans. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren: John (Candy) Lantrip, Karyl Shew (Paul), Joy Lantrip, Vanita Jeans, Brenda Jeans, Cindy (Darrell) Jeans, Naomi Jeans, and Wesley and Whitley Hazelwood. Additionally, she is survived by 26 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren, as well as her brothers, David Webb, Bill Dickerson, Keith Harris; and sisters, Jayne Brown, Mary Lawrence, Carolyn Perkins, Brenda Humphrey, and Diane Muse, along with many other relatives and friends.

A special thank you is extended to Enhabit Hospice for their kindness, help, and caring in taking care of Naomi. Special mentions to Lisa, Pastor Robert, Cassandra, Mayra, Destiny, Laurana, Jacob, all of the office staff, and especially Mary Irving, who was faithful and gentle with Naomi, and whom Naomi dearly loved.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, with visitation from 1 PM to 3 PM at Faith Baptist Church on Hwy 71 South in Texarkana, Arkansas, with Rowdy Vasquez officiating. Interment will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery under the direction of Tri-State Funeral Services.
