Fredrick Stotts

November 13, 1938 — April 23, 2025

Texarkana TX

Fredrick "Fred" Taylor Stotts, known as "Land Man" on the CB radio, was born on November 13, 1938, in Lake City, Arkansas, where he grew up on the family farm. He graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in Agricultural Economics. The only son of Irene and Fred Stotts, his lifelong best friend was his cousin Jim.

Fred passed away peacefully at 86 on April 23, 2025, in Texarkana, where he lived for nearly 60 years. His 50-year career spanned agricultural lending, farming, and real estate. A licensed pilot, he loved flying and knew every rural road in Arkansas. He ran into familiar faces wherever he went, even in New York City!

Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Jane "MJ" Robbins, Fred is survived by his sister, Gwendolyn Whyers, and his wife of 12 years, Janet Heflin Stotts. They fell in love over their mutual enthusiasm for country music and dancing. They enjoyed taking trips to Jefferson, Texas, and the company of their beagle, Lady. Dementia stole some memories, but he never forgot how to waltz, two-step, and smile.

With his first wife, Berta Brewer, Fred raised three daughters: Shawna Nielsen (Rick), Dawna Haley (Tim), and Tracy Stotts of Little Rock. He is also survived by grandchildren Alese Nielsen and Ryan (Breanna) Nielsen, and great-grandchildren Roman and Haven.
