Carolyn McElwee Hardin Shaw, 81, of Texarkana, TX, passed away at home on April 22, 2024. Born in Bowie County on March 10, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Glenn McElwee and Louise Johnson McElwee Carpenter.
Survivors include daughter Rachel Patterson of the home, son Dale Hardin (Sarah) of NC, one grandchild, Jennie Forsythe, and two step-grandchildren, Ashley Allen and Austin Jackson, all of NC. Brother Dwight McElwee of TX, as well as several special cousins and extended family members that were very dear to her, also survive her.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Mildred and Margie of Hands of Wisdom Home Healthcare, as well as the very caring employees of Dierksen Hospice of Texarkana Texas.
No services are planned at this time. If you would like to make a memorial contribution in her honor, please do so to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
