Billy Kent Boatner, a beloved husband, father, teacher, and coach, passed away on March 1, 2024, in Texarkana, Texas, at the age of 84. Born on August 10, 1939, in Arcadia, Louisiana, Billy was the cherished son of William and Lizzettie Boatner. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Wamos and Veva Alderson, and his son-in-law David Symoniak.

Billy is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Julia Boatner, and their daughters Desiree Dawson, Vicki Symoniak, and Melissa Lotkowski. He is also survived by his sisters Beverly Wilhite and Sheila Boyd, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

During his lifetime, Billy Boatner wore many hats, each with dedication and passion. He began his career as an educator, serving for 7 years before transitioning into engineering. Billy's love for mathematics and basketball led him to become a math teacher and basketball coach at Minden High School, where he inspired and mentored countless students.

Billy's love for basketball began during his college years at Louisiana Tech, where he proudly represented his alma mater on the court, leaving a lasting mark with his skills and sportsmanship.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Billy will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his infectious laughter, and his kind and gentle spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Though Billy Kent Boatner may have passed from this world, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love and gratitude of those whose lives he touched.
